About The Role
This crucial role in Affirmations’ culture serves as the first point of contact for all visitors. This role will specialize in assisting those seeking resources, connections, or support. It is the Welcome Desk Associates’ responsibility and mission to foster an affirming, trauma-informed, and compassionate environment. This role blends hospitality, administrative support, community engagement, and light custodial duties to help maintain a welcoming and well-functioning environment. This role will perform several tasks requiring physical exertion, may require sitting or standing for up to 8 hours per day, and will be scheduled between 10-25 hours per week at $19.50/hour. This is an in-person position, and schedules may include mornings, evenings, and weekend hours.

About You
- High level of cultural competency with diverse populations; a strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a nuanced understanding of trauma-informed practices.
- Experience in hospitality, customer service, peer support, or crisis response.
- Strong interpersonal and relational skills, including the ability to stay grounded under pressure.
- Genuinely enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life, engaging in conversation, and building authentic relationships.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, dependable, and able to multitask in dynamic environments.
- Demonstrated ability to engage community volunteers within the program and service delivery.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Available to work some evenings and weekends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, G-Suite, & possesses the ability to learn other computer programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal or professional experience within LGBTQ+ communities.
- Individuals with a background in harm reduction, mutual aid, peer support, or mental health first aid.
- Familiarity with confidentiality and HIPAA compliance practices.
- Strong interpersonal and relational skills, including the ability to stay grounded under pressure.
- Genuinely enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life, engaging in conversation, and building authentic relationships.
- Organized, dependable, and able to multitask in dynamic environments.
- People with lived experience navigating social services or community care.
