I am a trans non-binary Arab American counselor. I believe that we are the authors of our own stories and lives, and although there may be forces outside of our control that impose on our lives, we can still choose to take control of how we write and tell our stories. Emma Coffey

they/them/theirs, she/her/hers

My name is Emma Coffey (they/she), and I am an MSW intern with a background in psychology and women’s and gender studies. I bring experience in community living support for individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as intake coordination and administrative support in outpatient mental health. As I begin my clinical training, I am interested in working with adolescents and adults (ages 13–65) around concerns such as LGBTQ+ identity, anxiety, depression, women’s issues, ADHD, and family dynamics. I have begun focused study in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and gender-affirming care and look forward to expanding into DBT and Motivational Interviewing. I approach practice through cultural humility, intersectionality, and strengths-based care.

Eric Vest

they/them/theirs, he/him/his

I am a queer and pagan therapist who specializes in working with queer, pagan, kinky, and ENM/poly clients. I use an eclectic range of interventions to meet the needs of the client I am working with. I hope to create a partnership as we explore what is bringing you into therapy and blocking you from achieving your most authentic self. My focus has been on gender, sexuality, sex, and relationships because…well, how could it not? They are everywhere: in our music, our textbooks, in advertisements, our daydreams, our politics. They are sources of joy and anguish, grief and celebration, trauma and growth. I believe you can not try and help people reach their goals without considering the context of the world we live in. Inevitably my work has expanded into considerations of justice and equity

I draw from person-centered, cognitive-behavioral and somatic approaches. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space where you feel empowered to move toward your most authentic self. In my free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, making music, and walking my dog.

Leo Parikshak

he/him/his

I am a first-year MSW student at the University of Michigan and I’m very excited to start gaining experience as a mental health provider! In the past, I volunteered as a crisis line worker with the Ozone House for a year. I am passionate about the LGBTQ+ community, especially relating to gender identity, and I hope to serve adolescents and young adults. I am also an avid singer and musician, and can often be found singing with my university men’s choir and my acapella group. It would be a dream of mine to incorporate music into my career, and I am a huge proponent of music as a creative outlet and constructive coping mechanism. Overall, I am open-minded and looking forward to learning as much as I can!

I utilize cognitive-behavioral, solutions-focused, and strengths-based approaches, grounded in person-centered, existential, Adlerian, and feminist theories. I am deeply committed to being a lifelong ally to the LGBTQ+ community and an advocate for equity and inclusion— I continue to educate myself through anti-racism and allyship training. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy walking my dog, attending concerts, reading with my book club, and volunteering with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

Sarah Queen

she/her/hers

I practice with a humanist lens and strength’s based approach using empathy and I always carry a positive regard for my clients and what their dreams and goals are. I know that having 1 supportive person in our lives can make all the difference, especially for LGBTQIA+ people. I am affirming in all senses, and hope to gain insight and practice working with both individuals and specialized groups (trauma, chronic pain and disability, and grief would be of high interest). I would love to be able to do some psychoeducation with people regarding power and control and aid in their personal and relational development. I believe in the power of learning and change for all people. “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” – Maya Angelou
