Pedal for Pride
Pedal Across Michigan | Traverse City to Affirmations
Mission: raise funds and awareness for Affirmations and support life-affirming programs that help LGBTQ+ people feel safe, seen, and connected.
What
Pedal for Pride is a five-day community ride across Michigan. Cyclists roll out of Traverse City and finish together at Affirmations LGBTQ+ Community Center in Ferndale to celebrate visibility, solidarity, and collective care.
The journey begins in Traverse City and ends at Affirmations in Ferndale, covering hundreds of miles over five days. Along the way, riders and support crew travel together with a shared purpose: raising awareness and funds to improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ Michiganders through education, programming, advocacy, and community connection.
Some riders are members of the LGBTQ+ community. Others are allies. What unites this team is a simple belief: everyone deserves access to safe, affirming spaces that support their health, wellbeing, and connection to community.
Why
Since 1989, Affirmations has worked to improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ Michiganders. Each year, tens of thousands of individuals and families engage with the center through counseling, youth programs, health initiatives, resource navigation, and community events. Every mile ridden and every dollar raised helps sustain a center where LGBTQ+ individuals have the right to love, live, and thrive.
Funds raised through this ride will support:

How
| Start to End | Overnight | Est. Miles | Terrain and Ops Notes |
| Great Wolf Lodge (Traverse City) to Ludington | Kibby Creek Campground | 95-100 | Rolling terrain and likely west wind exposure near Lake Michigan. Early hills, flatter final 40 miles. |
| Ludington to Grand Haven | Camp ’89 | 85-90 | Possible lakeshore crosswinds. Moderate rollers early, flatter south of Pentwater, heavier tourist traffic. |
| Grand Haven to Ionia | Lakeside Resort Campground | 70-75 | Inland rollers, mixed farm roads, and occasional chip-seal sections. Settle into your own rhythm and keep steady forward momentum. |
| Ionia to Howell | Taylor’s Beach Campground | 75-80 | Another full-distance day with long rural connectors and steady mileage. Roads are mostly rolling-to-flat, with traffic and intersection density increasing as you move farther east. |
| Howell to Affirmations (Ferndale) | Ferndale (Affirmations finish) | 60-65 | Traffic density increases near Oakland County. Bike-path connectors where feasible and controlled final approach. |
